Rush
What is Rush?
Rush is a period of time for prospective members to visit the fraternity and gather information about its membership. Prospective membership is limited to incoming freshmen, transfer students, or currently enrolled students at Mississippi State. Generally, Delta Chi Fall rush begins in April and continues through the second or third week of the Fall semester. Spring Rush begins in October, and continues through the first few weeks of the Spring Semester.
How does Rush work?
During rush we try to provide you with every bit of information you might want to know about Delta Chi. Rush is a great time to ask us about our fraternity, so come prepared with questions. Additionally it is good to meet as many of the members as possible during rush. Getting to know the members is the best way to get a feel for the bond that we share. After you get the chance to meet a majority of the chapter and you have attended several functions, you will receive a bid from the Rush Chariman. The bid is basically a formal invitation to join.
What happens after I accept my bid?
The Associate Member program begins when rush is completed. The class is assigned an Associate Member Councilor (AMC) who is charged with educating the new members about the Delta Chi fraternity throughout the semester. Additionally, each Associate Member will be given a Big Brother who will be a mentor throughout the semester.
Why Should I Rush Delta Chi?
Academics
MSU Delta Chi places a strong emphasis on the academics of its membership. We are proud to rank among the top 5 in overall fraternity GPA rankings. Numerous brothers from various majors will always be available to help you in whatever class you are taking. We feel it is also very important for our new members to have a strong focus on academics, which is why we require them to attend weekly study hall programs. While going through the associate member program academics always take top priority over any other activity because we feel strongly about our members keeping a strong GPA.
Social
The MSU Chapter hosts some of the best parties on campus. Every fall, we have football parties at the house about every other weekend, and host an out-of-town formal every semester. Every spring, we have a huge party called Wet N Wild where we bring out a water slide in the yard. Each semester, we have various other parties attracting many people from around Starkville and around campus.
Leadership
MSU Delta Chi always has a major presence in campus leadership roles. We encourage our new members to get involved in several campus activities, from the Student Association, to the Interfraternity Council. Our members are involved in various organizations throughout campus. We have an excellent reputation on campus as being a group of men who are extremely involved in all campus organizations.
Athletics
Delta Chi is very competitive in all intramural sports on campus. We field teams in football, softball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. We take our sports teams very seriously and always compete on the highest level of intramural league competition. Our teams consistently reach the playoffs in each of these sports and are a proven source of pride for the chapter.
Where is Delta Chi located?
Our house is located at 215 N. Jackson St., just past Rick's, less than a mile from campus. It serves as a meeting and social gathering place for the entire chapter. A "home away from home," the house provides a great place at which to stop by and watch TV on the the big-screen, shoot pool, play foosball, or just hang out with the many members there.
The house is also a great place for our members to live, with rent being very affordable. The house is linked on a Wireless Local Area Network and has high-speed internet access.
