Mississippi State Chapter History

Sir Edward Coke

Originally founded in 1964, Delta Chi has been at MSU for over 40 years! Since then, we have continually been supporting our philanthropy, the Mississippi Sherriff's Boys & Girls Ranch in Columbus. It is a program to take care of orphaned and underpriviledged children. In the past few years, we have been able to donate more than $3000 each year to them!

Since 1964, we have initiated 615 brothers into the bond of Delta Chi.

Delta Chi History

Delta Chi was originally founded at Cornell in 1890. We currently have 115 chapters in existence and there are 83,750 Delta Chis world-wide. Delta Chi has recognized the following eleven men as the Founders of The Delta Chi Fraternity: Albert Sullard Barnes, Myron McKee Crandall, John Milton Gorham, Peter Schermerhorn Johnson, Edward Richard O'Malley, Owen Lincoln Potter, Alphonse Derwin Stillman, Thomas A. J. Sullivan, Monroe Marsh Sweetland, Thomas David Watkins, and Frederick Moore Whitney.

In the beginning, Delta Chi was a professional law fraternity. In 1922, we officially became an open, social fraternity, which means any male student registered at a college or university where there is a chapter of Delta Chi is eligible for membership.
